RECOMMENDED GUIDE STYLE FOR SUBMISSION

It is the author's responsibility to prepare his or her document for conversion by adhering to the following Word document style formatting.

  • Use heading level one (H1) for titles. Capitalize and bold titles. Do NOT italicize.
    Use heading level two (H2) for the first level of heading used in the text such as abstract, endnotes, and references/works cited/bibiography. Do not use numerals 1, 2, or 3 for H2 headings. Bold but do NOT italicize.
  • Use levels 3 through 6 for subsequent levels.
  • The first letter of each word in headings, H2 or H3, must be capitalized.
  • Never underline any word or text.
  • Use paragraph TABS for basic paragraph text. Do not use hard return anywhere within a paragraph; use hard return only at the end of paragraphs.
  • Use indent tab for all quotes and indented text. Use the tab key or tab function for paragraph indents. Never use the space bar to position text.

  • Use em dashes “—“ rather than hyphen to insert comments.
  • Do not use centering or other formatting functions other than bold and italic in your word-processing software
JENDA does not have a preferred form for citation and referencing. Authors may use the Chicago Manual of Style or the MLA style. The only stipulation is that the author be consistent throughout the text.
